I had this idea in my mind that in order to motivate my creativity at home, I needed to be inspired by the desk I was working on. Of course, creating this desk took time away from the work that I actually needed to be working on, but in the end, my hypothesis of pride-based diligence rang true.

I met an arborist in Seattle who turns locally fallen trees into slabs of wood, so I made an appointment to go visit his collection. I picked out a couple of large cypress slabs that fell locally on a Broadmoor street, and expanded the width by joined them both together to create the top surface of my massive desk. My roommate, fortunately for my many design ambitions, is an fantastic welder. Using aluminum T-bar, the end frames were created to attach to the sides of the slab like caps, adding masculine edges that frame the slab inside. A mix of Lacewood veneer add a boast of intricacy to the drawers and frame, adding  pizazz that I still love to look at every time I approach my chair for the next coming day of work.
